THE NOUN (Part 1)√

#He lives in Ayodhya.
#You are sitting in a chair.
#Honesty is the best policy.
The dark words in the above sentences are all nouns.
#Ram is a name of a person.
#Ayodhya is the name of a place.
#Chair is the name of a thing.
#Honesty is the name of a quality.
Therefore,
◆◆◆ A noun is a word that refers to a person, place or quality.

●● Kinds of  Nouns.

1. COMMON NOUNS : A common noun is a noun , that is not the name of one particular  persons or thing but a name for the complete category.
Such as 'tree', 'cow','water'.

2. #PROPER NOUN : A proper noun is the name of a particular person, organisation or thing. 
#Proper nouns begin with a capital letter.
Example : Lord Krishna, Sita, Mathura, India, Asia, Jupiter.

3.#Collective Nouns: A collective noun is a noun such as 'family', 'class', audience, that refers to a group of people or things.

4. #Abstract Nouns : An abstract noun refers to a quality or idea rather than to a physical objects. 
#These are the things that we can't touch or see.
Examples : honesty, courage, bravery.

What is noun?
Ans.: A word that refers to a person, (such as Ram or teacher), a place(such as Ayodhya or city) or a thing, a quality or  activity (such as wood, happy or hockey).

#Countable nouns are common nouns. 
They have both forms: Singular and Plural (Chair-Chairs).
*** A count noun is a noun that can be modified by a numeral and that occurs in both singular and plural forms, and that co-occurs with quantificational determiners like one, two, every, each, several, most etc.

In a singular form they can take articles (a,an,the) e.g. , a cow, an apple, the earth.

SINGULAR NOUN : A singular noun is a noun that denotes a single person or a thing.
√ It always has a determiner such as 'a', 'an' before it. 
Example :  an arrow, a sword, a pen.
PLURAL NOUN :  A PLURAL  noun is a noun that denotes more than one person or a thing, is said to be in the Plural Number; as, 
arrows, swords, pens.
